Todd Oldham’s Kid Made Modern Hits Target

Designer, Todd Oldham has brought his new kid’s craft line called  Kid Made Modern to Target. But because they’re from Todd Oldham, they’re not your usual crayons and drawing paper. Instead, they’re unusually fun and quirky, making them very appealing to grownups, too. There’s something called a “crazy crayon”, which boasts 64 colors in one ten inch stick.  Other highlights include a sew-it-yourself elephant pillow, duct tape art projects, a space stone jewelry kit,  and a comic book making kit that includes markers, stamps, and stencils. Lucky for me, I live about a block from Target. I’m going to go check it out for my five year old, of course. Uh yeah, definitely for my five year old.

Incredible DIY Solar Lamps

I love Modge Podge. I use it a lot when making my jewelry. Recently, I found this incredibly easy and money-saving tutorial for DIY hanging solar lamps at The Hand Me Down House. It’s magic ingredient? Modge Podge, naturally. Normally, similar “sun jars” or “solar jars” go for about $30 a piece. These work about to be about $3.50 a jar. The project requires: mason jars, outdoor Modge Podge (you can find it on Amazon), food coloring, small solar lights, and some wire.

In a nutshell, mix the food coloring of your choice with the outdoor Modge Podge and paint it onto a mason jar.

Then let it dry overnight.

Next, take the top off a small solar light.

Add the top and some wire to the mason jar.

Wallah! You have your own sun/moon jar.

I never know how to start these things. In a nutshell, I’m have a penchant for jewelry design and making pretty things. This blog will serve as my catalogue of inspiration. I will also be posting anything that I find pretty, inventive, clever, or just downright cool. In the meantime, allow me to plug my Etsy shop, Sunny Raven Designs (which I will be doing quite frequently). Here are a few of my favorite pieces for springtime:
